Bio

Diyala Muir is a freelance animation director and artist. Since graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2016 Diyala has been awarded film funding from the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London, Random Acts at Channel 4, and the British Film Institute. Her darkly comic and naive style has been described as “raw, punk and gutsy” by the jury at the British Animation Awards 2018, where she won Best Student film for ‘The Day After the Party.’ She often uses this style as a tool to express the chaotic inner world of her protagonists, as well as to approach complex themes such as loneliness, anxiety, and sexuality.
